In the fall of 2002, Mr. Akshat (A.K.) Prasad was hired by East Coast Tutoring to work as an academic tutor. Over the course of the next several years, A.K. became more involved in the business, eventually not only assisting with clients, but also managing day-to-day operations and strategic planning. In January of 2008, Claudia moved to California and offered A.K. her clients at East Coast Tutoring. Her rationale behind this decision was two-fold. A.K. had proven himself as responsible and capable of running and managing the business and, more importantly, Claudia trusted him to look after her students and continue to provide the same or better level of service. Upon taking Claudia’s clients, A.K. renamed the firm Capital Tutoring, referring to the intellectual capital he and his staff would be investing in their clients.
